Saltburn Solidarity

Who Are We?

We’re a collective of Saltburn residents who have come together to help those people in our community who are struggling to buy food for themselves and their children.

Helping People in Need

We are a grass roots, non profit charitable organisation established to support individuals and families within the local area. We offer a ‘no questions asked’ compassionate service where referrals and vouchers are not needed.

We have grown dramatically in the last 12 months and have managed to help hundreds of people.

Everyone we have helped has been in a different situation, families and single parents, young and old single people, unemployed and working.

Saltburn by the sea is a small town with a huge community heart, where local people donate not just non-perishable foods but life essentials, offering a vital lifeline to all.

Our services have provided invaluable to our recipients but, as a direct consequence of Covid-19, more people are struggling due to job losses, furlough and seasonal jobs not being required.

We have been operating from our own homes, with stocks held in a garage, but we have found that the pandemic has increased not only the need for our service but, importantly and thankfully, donations.

This has highlighted the fact we now need a known, central premise from which we could have storage, deliver our food bank service and also offer to listen, stop and chat and a drink and signpost people who need additional support from out side agencies; somewhere a community hub could be open everyday if needed.

Saltburn Solidarity Food Bank is now looking for funding so that we may have our own premises; this could be either to purchase or rent. This will allow us to carry on, expand and provide much needed support now and in the future.
